John Denver became a star thanks to the folk songs that he wrote, many of which were located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and moved to Aspen. A few beat a path to Colorado due to Denver's famous tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." Denver was the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Today, he is the face of Colorado on the world stage. When I travel, I always meet someone from the other side of the world someone who is from New Zealand and you say 'I'm originally from Colorado and the first word that comes they say is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads is Denver's only Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time with small folk groups. The track was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff had written the song with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version of the song and realized the song would be an instant hit in the top 10. Just a few days after the performance to a throng of fans in Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
